The story of Fado do Silêncio
Portuguese singer Magda Mendes en gitarist Ward Veenstra want to create little oasis of “silence” in places where they are difficult to find. They are convinced that an authentic setting fits best the unpretensious quality of Fado.
Mendes en Veenstra present traditional Fados as well as own compositions in a intriguing and delicate manner.

Silêncio, the Fado wanders through
“Silêncio, the Fado wanders through…” is a project from Mendes and Veenstra that started back in April 2015.
Throughout all neighbourhoods of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, 50 locations were transformed in Fado clubs for one evening. For this special occasion, Portuguese food was served between short sets of acoustic fado, just like it happens in the fado houses in Lisbon.
